Pink-Nose

Pink-Nose - This weeks challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity is Non Traditional Christmas.

I started with a base of white card stock and moved to pink card stock with Recollections Jolly Holiday papers. I love all the pinks and bright colors in this pad.

My image is Inkadinkadoo, stamped with dark brown ink. The image and mat were cut with SB dies. Leaving the die still in place, I gave the image a faux frame using Worn Lipstick distress ink.

Did you notice the pink gemstone "nose" on the reindeer.

While we are on the subject of reindeer. I can't resist to show you my visit to a reindeer farm in Alaska.

I went there in October to visit my son, who is stationed there at Ft Richardson.

The reindeer are quite a bit smaller then I thought they would be. They were very sweet and would come up to you to get the feed.

I finished up my card with 3 larger gemstones in pink.

I hope you will come and join us at Crafts 4 Eternity, in our non-traditional Christmas challenge.

Sweet Rocker

Sweet Rocker - Before I get started on my card, I want to share the ongoing disaster relief programs from the May tornadoes in my home town of Moore, Oklahoma.

I want to start that if you are unfamiliar with my account of that day (May 20) I have a post on my blog with my grandson's TV interview.  Here is the link to my tornado story.

The damage that day was so severe. They have done a fabulous job of clearing up the debris, but the empty land serves as a constant reminder of that day. All of the leaves and bark were stripped from all the trees in the tornado path. At least with winter, all the other trees are also bare, so it is not as obvious as it was before. LOL

My church did a Christmas event for those affected by the tornadoes. We know from past experience (this is Moore's 3rd tornado in 15 years) that when it is time to pull out Christmas decorations, these families are hit anew with the loss, so we had donations of Christmas decorations brought to our church and they were allowed to "shop" and take what they wanted. We also had new family bibles and creches that we gave out. We had planned for 150 families, but we had more than 250 families come. It was very busy and we were out of everything. All of this in an ice storm. And to think that we considered cancelling because of the weather. We are really glad that we didn't.

It is amazing how weepy myself and others still are with all of this. My daughter lost her home and still I was tearing up at some of the stories going around. I guess you just can't get used to the grief and tragedy that is in the wake of these storms.

My grandson who was in that ill-fated hall is doing great and has no lasting problems. Some children have had extensive counseling. We are very blessed.

The 2 little ones with me in the car, as we were chased down the road, also have no problems. I think they felt safer than I did.

My daughter is living in a rental house and is looking to build a new home on a different lot. I am happy, because this house will be a lot closer to us than the one that she lost. Her insurance has been very difficult, but she has a lawyer working on helping her recover more money.

Lindsay, my daughter, has had a great pouring of outreach and support. We have seen firsthand, the goodness of people. Thank you to everyone who prayed and reached out to us. I can't tell you how much it means.

Enough of that, back to my card!

This is my DT card for Creative Card Crew. Our challenge this fortnight is Sweet Treats and we are sponsored by the Scrapping Center

I thought it would be fun to do a rocker card for this challenge. I don't know if I have done one before, but I really like doing different folds. My DP is Pressed Petals, Baby Girl.

My image is Harriet, by Crafty Sentiments. I colored Harriet with Copics, added Stickles to her hairpieces and trim on her skirt. Her sucker got a coat of Diamond Glaze to make it shiny. All of my papers were inked with Vintage Photo distress inks and some pink Fran-tage.

The rocker was made with grand SB. The sprig is also a SB. The sentiment and punches for it, is SU. I added some pom pom trim along the edge.

The pink rose, I picked up at the Scrap booking convention that I attended in June. The white flowers were cut from a stem. I also used my Salmon pearl pen on it.

Thanks for visiting me!

Feeling Blue

Feeling Blue - It is time for a new sketch at Seems a Little Sketchy

This fortnight we have this lovely sketch by our dear Tess. I really had to think on this one. I am so dependent on the main thing on my card being a large colored image.

I finally settled on doing these little images by our sponsor Kenny K Downloads. How doesn't love Kenny's fabulous work? This one is Girl Fish. I love her big eyes.

The first thing that came to me when I seen this image was to do a color changing card. My grandchildren have cars that change colors in warm water. They love taking a bath with those cars.

So here is my version of a color changing fish.

My only embellishments are pearls made with my Pearl Pen and the border that was made with a MS punch.

Home for the Holidays

Home for the Holidays - My team is up at The Sweet Pea Stamper and this time the challenge is texture.

You have 2 chances to win so check out The Sweet Pea Stampers for all the details.

My DP's are The Paper Studio, Old World Winter.

My image is Sweet Pea Stamps ©Katerina Koukiotis's Home for the Holidays- DIGIRubber  By Plate ©Katerina Koukiotis's sheet 3, Plate 159

I colored her with Copics and use my snow pen for the snow falling on it. It sticks out, which gives some really fun texture. I also used some Diamond Glaze on the glass of the lantern. Another fun texture.

I love the ripped ribbon and I used a stick pin on it. The gemstone ribbons are always so fun. I love getting a chance to use them.

My flower is Petaloo, with a goosebump gemstone. Don't you just love the texture on them? The holly leaves are a Marianne Designs. I inked the leaves and papers with Frayed Burlap distress inks and then added some 3-D paint in Walnut to the leaves. I love the sparkle in it. The sentiment is SU and I used a TH tattered banner die for it.

Here is a side view, so you can see the texture from another angle.

Leaves

Leaves - It is Friday and that means it is time for another challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity. This week we have tic tac toe. Yahoo!!!

I tried several times to copy the tic tac toe board for you, but it would not allow me to, so you will have to go to Crafts 4 Eternity blog to see it.

I went for the last column which is: Glitter, Leaves and Red.

I made my own designer paper with Tim Holtz Falling Leaves stamps. I used the same maple leave in red and black ink. The tiny trees are a wooden stamp that I picked up at a garage sale for 10 cents. I think it was a pretty good deal.

Apter stamping the trees, I used SU embossing glitter over the entire image. In the image below, you can see how sparkly it made it.

My sentiment and punches are also SU. I used to tiny black gemstones to finish off the card.

Soft Pink and Lilac

Soft Pink and Lilac - Today at Creative Card Crew, we have a new challenge and that challenge is pearls. I love to use pearls in my work. It adds such a touch of elegance to any project.

I have made another magnet board for another one of the teachers that protected the children at my grandchildren's Day Care during that horrible tornado in May. The building was gone, but the children suffered only minor injuries due to the heroics of the staff. I had picked up my grandchildren shortly before the tornado hit, so they were not there, but you can bet that it is comforting to know that they did everything in their power to keep the children safe.

This teacher likes purple and pink, so I used some pink trim by Melissa Frances and added some pearl sprays.

This image is Saturated Canary and I colored her with Copics. I added some Stickles to her wings and the little pom pom on her sock.

This is one of the matching magnets. I used more of the trim.

We are sponsored by the Scrapping Center, with a prize of a $15 gift voucher to their shop. They have oodles of crafty goodness there.

Cheese Please

Cheese Please -  It is time for another challenge at Seems a Little Sketchy.

We are having another flashback. This time we are using the sketch from challenge 19. It is a fun one.

My image is Digi Doodles. I had colored up this image a while back and have been waiting for the perfect time to use.  I really like it, it is so sweet. I colored it with Copic's.

My papers are MME, Breeze. I finished it off with buttons.

Golden Twine

Golden Twine - I have a card for you. This card is my DT card for Alphabet Challenge Blog. We are up to T and it was my turn to select what the T would be for and I chose Twine. I like using bakers twine and thought that you also would enjoy using it.

I just bought this stamp set at a little stamping shop that is going out of business. They had some real deals and this stamp set was gently used for one of their classes, so it was really cheap. I am traveling and don't have it with,so I cannot tell you who made it,but I thought it was such a lovely stamp. I hear embossed it with yellow embossing powder.

I used both navy and yellow twine.

The flower was handmade using a SB die, distress ink, water, and a glittery brad to hold it together.

Batty

Batty - I have another Magnet board for another one of the teachers that was in the tornado at my grandchildren's day care last May.

This one is for Brookelyn. She is a teen and really likes Batman.

I started with a metal plate that I picked up from the Dollar Tree. I added to different fancy ribbons.

On the right hand side of the plate, I added a turquoise feather, some black pearls, some black ribbon and a Recollections flower.

I added several bats to the border.

Another rosette from the ribbon and 2 more bats make up the magnets that she can hold things with.

This is my DT project for Crafts 4 Eternity. Our challenge this week is anything that is not a card. Come and join us with your non card entries.

Roar!

Roar - It is Friday and I have a new DT card for Crafts 4 Eternity. Our challenge this time is a very lovely sketch.

My DPs are Kaiser Craft, Jungle Bug pad. I love the bright colors. The orange sentiment is a scrap of DP from a Halloween pad. It was perfect for my sentiment. I did ink it with Spiced Marmalade distress inks.

My fun image is Doodle Pantry and I colored it with Copic's and inked it with Bundled Sage distress ink.

My sentiment is SU.

I finished the card with a button with a twine bow and 3 gemstones.
