Teen Idol

Teen Idol - This fortnights challenge at Creative Card Crew is everyone's favorite - Anything Goes!!! So come and join for some fun and a chance to win some Kenny K digi's; as that is who is sponsoring us this go around.

They let us play with some of their fun, sassy images and I used this cool dude who is Kenny K's Teen Idol. Isn't he a great image? And so perfect for those hard to make guy cards. For my card I used Sandy Lion's People Pattern DP. It is double sided, so I only had to use one sheet of paper. The brads are K and Company and it came with those funky chipboard circle. My sentiment is Hot Off the Press.
Teen Idol was colored with Copics and I distressed all of the paper with Ranger's Tea Dye.

Pencil Box

Pencil Box - This week at Sew Many Challenges we are having a week of showing the new Fall images by Angela of Sew Many Cards. Today I get to show Marvin with Book. I love this image. Not only could he be used as a back to school image, but it would also be cute to use the book as a Bible. Marvin could then be a church mouse.

My card is actually a little pencil box. I found this pattern on line, but my computer locked up and I had to reboot it and was unable to find the site where I found it.

It is really simple to make. The belly band comes off and then the box opens up. I placed some things inside to show how big the opening is, but if you want it so fold flat, you would need to put something thinner in it.
My DP is Paper Studio's All Seasons paper pack. My punch is EK Success. and I added some Dew Drops.

My image is Marvin with Book and you can get it at Sew Many Cards.

Thank You Rosie

Thank You Rosie - Today I am very sad as this is the last day for there to be a design team for Michelle Perkett Studio. Michelle has decided to take her work in a different direction and therefore dissolving the challenge blog. This bitter-sweet last challenge is "Thank-you," as Michelle wanted to thank all of us for being part of her team.

You will still be able to get her breathtaking images in her Etsy shop here. I have used Rosie as I think that her pose is a curtsy. I love this image, but Michelle has so many lovely images, that I don't think I ever got around to coloring her before.

For my card, I used Welcome Baby from Big Lots DP.
My flowers are Posey Patch Heartfelt Creations. I love that they have flower stamps and Spellbinders that go together. This way you can stamp, then have a perfect cut on the same flower. It took my some time to figure out how to match the die with the stamped image, but now I have one of those I can't believe how dense I was not to figure it out earlier. I sponged over them with gold (centers) and Rose Viva Decor Inka-gold. I love this stuff. It gives a metallic look to things. My yellow Swirls were cut using my Cricut and Accent Essencels cartridge. I then shaped my flowers and added another Viva Decor product, my Icy white Pearl Pen to make the little pearls in the centers. I also used the pearl pen to make the pearl swirls. All of this took some time, but I am pleased with the results.

My ribbon is MS and it has my sentiment on it. My image is Rosie and I colored her with Copics, the gave a lot Stickles. You can never have to much bling!!

Thank you Michelle for all of your lovely images and for your friendship! I will miss all of this terribly, but am so thankful to have had this opportunity to have been on this incredable journey with you!

Vintage Chrissy

Vintage Chrissy - I have used Michelle Perketts "Chrissy" image to make my Christmas card with.

This week's challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio is Vintage. It is really fun to distress (I used Ranger's tea dye) and use ivory lace. My DP is Holiday Wonder by Paper Studio. I used some brads that I picked up at the convention in June. I love the Cameo one. My sentiment is Inkadinkado.

I colored Chrissy with Copics. I added some platinum Stickles to the center of the poinsettias on her dress. The berries are tiny gemstones and I used some ivory Flower Soft on her fur. The snowflakes got Stickled with icicle Stickles.

I love Michelle's fairies. All of Michelle's images are so pretty and fun to color. I hope that all of you will join in our vintage challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio, but remember you must use on of Michelle's images to play. She has started posting a freebie on the challenge blog that you can use on the challenge. I can't wait to see this weeks freebie.

Red Hat Lady

Red Hat Lady - It is time for another Creative Card Crew Challenge. This week we are making handmade flowers and we are sponsored by the fabulous Robyn's Fetish. You can win 5 delightful digi's.
I belonged to the Red Hat Society while we lived in Maryland. I made some wonderful friends and we had so much fun. We did a few teas and often had lunch together, but mostly we laughed together. In our outlandish clothes it was all about the fun!!!!!

You can only wear a pink hat and lavender clothes until you turn 50. This is us before my reduation. I am in the center with the pink feathers in my hat.
For my card I used K & Company Red Hat designer paper. I made faux stitching with my red Spica pen on the striped DP. My ribbon is from Michael's and of course, we Red Hatter's like our bling!

My image is Violet Red Hat Gal by Robyn's Fetish. She would also be fun to color as a vintage image in browns. She was colored with Copics and I give her ties some sparkle with my Stardust Sakura pen.
For my flowers, I have to thank my good friend, Milly's 3 year old granddaughter. Thank you Aria!!!!

Aria was painting and she started dipping her brush in the paint and flaring the brush on the paper. Milly noticed it and upon looking closely, she thought they looked like petals with the veins. So Milly imitated Aria and made a bunch of petal.

These photos do not do justice to the flowers IRL they are gorgeous.

These are finished flowers, but my lighting is way off. I took many photos, but nothing really showed as beautiful as they are.

Flower Tutorial - You can use just about any point that you want, I use Crayola children's washable paint. The cheap plastic brushes worked best, as it leaves the bristle marks that look like veins.

You start by laying the paint so that they touch each other on your palette. Then you dip your brush in both colors at once.

Then you press down on the paper and twist the brush, flaring the bristles.
This is my petals in the drying stage.

After they were dry, I cut them out and rolled with with an embossing tool to give them some shape.
I changed colors of paint for this portion of the tutorial.

I punched out a small circle and started gluing them to the circle.

This is what it looks like with the second layer of petals. Just keep going until you have what you like. I used a gemstone for my centers, but you could use lots of things, such as a button or a Prima flower.
Show us your handmade flowers and join us at Creative Card Crew.

Tyler's Small Book of the Robots

Tyler's Small Book of the Robots - 6 year old Tyler made this small robot book today. This is a book about a robot that has googly eyes, that shoots fire out of his mouth and his whole body is made out of fire. His home is made out of fire and his rocket is also made out of fire. He can go very fast in his rocket.

Tyler made his book out of paper from Nana's scrap drawer. He cut the robots out with Nana's Cricut using the Birthday cake cartridge. The rockets were cut with Everyday paper dolls.
The robots have googly eyes and there are pom poms in the corners.

I had a lot of fun making this book. I hope you like it.

Look What the Stork Brought!

Look What the Stork Brought!!!! - This weeks challenge at Sew Many Challenges is 3 or more brads. It is an easy challenge and you don't have to use a Sew Many Cards image to join in on the fun.

My DP paper is Big Lots Welcome Baby. I cut the image and sentiment using a SpellBinders. The eyelash yarn is from the Dollar Tree. I bought that skein about 5 years ago and I still have most of it. So it was a really good buy. The ribbon is a scrap from my stash. Did you notice my striped brads. I had removed them from there packaging, so I don't know who made them, but they are really fun.
For my card, I used Sew Many Cards, Tayla Stork image, that I colored with Copic's. I have been wanting to color this image for a while, so I am happy to finally have a chance to use it.

We really do expect the stork to bring us a little blue bundle soon. My daughter is due in October!!!! I promise to post photos when he arrives! You know how we grandma's are, there will be lots of photos of him. LOL This bundle of joy will be our 3rd grandson. My husband is ecstatic that it is another boy. He is working on a Boy Scout Patrol, which has 6 boys. I would like just one girl, before he gets his patrol. LOL
Today's Friday Freebie is this adorable Birthday Yummies image. You can get it here, but is is available today only, so get it quick!

My DP is MME's Kaleidoscope. The ribbon is MS and I pulled to ruffle it. My sentiment is Autumn Leaves.

I colored Birthday Yummies with Copic's. I distressed the image with Ranger's Worn Lipstick. Come and show us your brads at Sew Many Challenges!

River Float

River Float - I have made a card using Michelle Perkett's Penelope. Penelope is so cute and I played around and created a background for her.

Every year our scout troop used to take a family camp out and float down the river. I think we floated the Red River, but I am not sure. It was always a lot of fun and so relaxing. The second year the boys turned my canoe up-side down with me in it!!! I got even by telling the boy responsible that now he was my special friend and I would hug him every time I seen him. This was the kiss of death for a pre-teen boy, so needless to say, he skirted around me the rest of the trip.

My DP is Fiskars and I inked the edges with Ranger's Concord distress ink. My flowers are stems that I cut off. The ribbon was a left over that was in my stash. The purple swirls were cut with my Cricut, Storybook cartridge. I inked and added some tiny gemstones. My fiber is Making Memories.

Penelope is colored with Copics and I added Stickles to her bow and swimsuit. I added a reflection in the water. I used Marianne Walker's tutorial to make the scene.

The challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio is Summertime fun and I hope that you will join in the fun there. Remember to enter the challenge you must use a Michelle Perkett image.

Craft Your Days Away turns 1!!!!!

It's our 1st birthday at Craft Your Days Away and we are celebrating!!!!!!

Look at all the goodies that you can win!!!!!

And Little Musings too!!!!!!!

So put on your party hat and join in our challenge. It is an easy one. Birthdays!

For my card, I used one of Heart Song Designs images. I grew up in Michigan and the state flower is apple blossom and the state bird is a robin. This image took me back to my childhood, where this was a common site. Since I have lived in Oklahoma, I have seen only 1 robin and I just stared at. It looked so out of place.
For my card, I used DP from DCWV Rustic pad. The gold foil is from Target's dollar spot. The frame is a Heartfelt Creations Spellbinders. The ribbon I believe is also from Target's dollar spot.
The image is colored with Copic's and can you believe I didn't use any glitter! With the foil frame and glitter in the DP, I didn't feel that it needed any thing else, plus the bird and apple blossom are beautiful the way God intended them to be.

Join us at Craft Your Days Away and help us celebrate our 1st birthday!!!!!
