Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home - It is time for another challenge at Alphabet Challenge Blog. This fortnight our Letter is H for Handmade flowers.

The photo is of my new house shortly before it was finished. It is hard to believe that I have already lived in it for a year. The adorable little boy is my grandson Tyler standing in front. At first he liked going to see the construction, but towards the end he was not as impressed. He liked it best when it was dirt and a concrete slab. LOL

For my page, I started with a sheet of paper from my favorite paper company K and Company. This was from the Nature pad. The border is SB Fleur De Lis Doily Accents, which was then inked with Forest Moss distress inks. I added little pearls made from my Salmon Viva Decor pearl pen. I found that it was best to form them on a mat and then glue them on the cardstock. On some papers/mats they flatten out. Now that I have found the perfect mat, I form all of mine this way. I had to throw away so many. What is the mat that I use? I use a bright pink one that is for hot glue that I ordered from HSN. I don't get much from there, but a friend pointed it out to me and it has been the best kit. It has finger protectors; so I no longer burn myself on the hot glue gun. Yea!

The letters were made with my Cricut machine using the Elegant Cakes Cartridge. I really like the font on it.

The image is Heartfelt Creations Chateau Gateway. It is a lovely image, but it was huge; so I only used a portion of it. I colored it with Copics. Wood is one of my favorite things to color with Copic's.

My flowers are Heartfelt Creations Vintage Wildflower. They have a matching SB's that cuts the flowers. I Glimmer Misted and shaped the  flowers. I used more of the Viva Decor pearls in the centers. In the larger flower, I used a brad. I also used SB leaves and inked and shaped them.

The green pearls are from a pearl garland that I picked up in the Seasonal shop at Hobby Lobby.

I made the semi-finals for Heartfelt Creations and this is what I made for the final part of the try-outs. I did not make the team. Thank you to everyone who voted for me.

Martian Fun

Martian Fun - Bugaboo is sponsoring this fortnights sketch challenge at Seems a Little Sketchy. We have new designers joining us, so take a look at the new talent!

The DP was a scrap from my blue scrap drawer. Yes, I have my scraps divided by color and stored in a chest that I had custom made for that purpose. The drawers are 12 x 12 and there are quite a few of them in the chest.

I have photos of my craft room on another page of this blog. I was very blessed; as my husband just retired and we had our dream home built. I love the craft room that my wonderful husband let me have total freedom to design and make it however I wanted.
My image is martianship by Bugaboo. The images from there are all so cute and quick to color up. I colored martianship with Copic's, then added Diamond Glaze to the opened ship and the martians helmet to make them shiny.

The stars were punched with CM punches out of scrap sugar paper. I love how sparkly sugar paper. I tore the paper, so that the martian ship would look as if he were bursting through space.

Did you notice the glittery milky way? That is glow-in-the-dark glitter. I photographed it without lights, but the effect did not show up.

Bloomin Blue

Bloomin Blue - I am thrilled to be Mays' guest designer for Corrosive Challenges. Corrosive Challenges is sponsored this month by Tickled Pink Stamps. Come back in 2 weeks and see what I did with one of their fabulous images!

The challenge this fortnight is Flowers, Bling and Doilies. Perfect for Mother's Day! I want to wish all the Mother's out there a big Happy Mothers! Blue is my mother's favorite color! I know she will love this card.

For my card I used Hot Off the Press's Sapphire DP. I have cherished this little paper pad. The papeers are all blue in different shades. The paper is really pretty and as it is only blues, it is so easy to use.
My image is Designed to Delight. This image was a homework assignment for my Copic's class. We were learning how to color copper. I like how real it looks. The trick is a high contrast as metals are shiny.

I cut the image and scalloped circle with a SB and added little gemstones to the center of the flowers for my bling. My doilie is from the cake decorating area of Walmart.

I finished the card off with 3 little gems to the bottom left corner.

Daffodil

Daffodil - Daffodils are my second favorite type of flower (tulips are my fave,) so I was thrilled to see the daffodils in this paper pad by K and Company and just knew that I wanted to use is soon.

Sunday Sketch and Stamp's sketch gave me the perfect excuse to  play. Take a look at this week's sketch.

I decided that it was perfect for a Criss Cross card. I haven't done one in a while, but they are so much fun to give and receive.
We are sponsored by Vintage Milly, which is a new one for me, so I was excited about getting to play with one of their images.

This one is called Festival fun and she is such a cutie pie. She has great locks to color.

I colored her with Copic's and added just a little bit of Stickles to her bodice and bangle bracelet. We all know that we girls like our bling.

The image was cut with a SB and I melted the white tulle behind the image. I like how it gives it such an interesting look. There, yet not very much.
My flowers are daffodils that were trimmed off a silk bush and the lilac flowers were in the wedding section at my local craft store. I like to shop the wedding isle; as they have the most beautiful things in that area.
I even finished the inside of the card. I don't do that very often, but I was motivated to this time.

I used some of my treasured scrolled ribbon to make a pulley. The punch is EK Success. I also used my kiwi pearl pen to make the tiny pearls.

All Creatures Great and Small

All Creature Great and Small - That is the challenge this fortnight at Craft Your Days Away. We are sponsored by Meljens artist extraordinaire. Meljen creates the most delightful images, that are always fun to color.

For my card, I used K & Company's Garden paper pad. I love the gorgeous colors in it. K and Company is my favorite paper and the Susan Winget is my favorite of all of K & Company's designers. She uses lots of beautiful, bold yet muted colors. They are so much fun to work with.

My butterfly is felt. I used a strip of paper lace that I added gemstones to.
My image is Meljen's Turtles Friend.  I colored him with Copic's and added Stickles to the spots and butterflies wings.

I am entering this in the following Challenges:

Blue

Blue - It is time for another challenge at Creative Card Crew and this time, we want to see a focus on words. The challenge is to use a sentiment as your main focus point.

For my card, I bought a 6x6 paper pack at Michael's that was in their $1 bins. As soon as I seen this package, the card started forming in my head. I used to see a lot of blue delft dishes and things, but it has been a while since I have seen any and they have a certain charm to them.

This was a simple card to make and my husband has already asked for it to give to his mother for her birthday.
I fussy cut the sentiment piece and the shape behind it. I love how they layered together. The tiny white pearls were made with my Viva Decor pearl pen which you can get from our sponsor Simon Says Stamp here. I love these pens; as I can control the size of the pearl. I also used the blue pearl pen on the blue pearls. Viva Decor pearl pens come in lots of colors. The hard part is narrowing it down.
The lace was from my stash. The flower was another cut out that was in the pack. I cut just the flower part the second time to add some layers.
A very simple, yet elegant card.

I hope that you liked my card and that you will check out all the goodies at Simon Says Stamp and join in our challenge at Creative Card Crew.

Garden

Garden - Over at Alphabet Challenge Blog we are up to G already and G is for .... Garden!!

I wanted to do something really different and when I was looking for images, this one from Digi Doodles just called out to me. I thought it would be really cool if I did her as a statue, but I wasn't sure if I could pull it off. I gave it a try and I really like how it came out. Even my husband was impressed.

I colored the angel using Copic's, then cut her with SU Framelits. My DP is Meadow by K & Company. Sentiment is from Dreamweavers'. The Scroll is SB that I cut in half.
