Magnet Board - I have a really fun Altered Art project for you today.
This week is teacher appreciation week at my grandson's school and I was tasked with coming up with little gifts for his really awesome teacher.
Alison,
my Stampin Up demonstrator, had made a really cute magnet board and several of us at my Wednesday crop group were really taken it. You can see Alison's magnet board
here.
Alison was really great about helping me to figure out workable solutions to some of the challenges in creating this. It was her idea to look at the Dollar Tree for something metal that would be a good foundation.
This project is my DT project for 2 teams.
Alphabet Challenge Blog challenge is G for Gemstones and glitter. I used lots of gemstones and my black Spica pen for some glitter on the image.
I used center across line of Inking, Use Scraps, and 3 of something. All of these can be found in my flowers. I also used the diagonal line of ribbon, scraps and bling or you could go down with pink (in image,) 3 of something, and bling.
My image is Saturated Canary's Starla. She was colored with Copics and my black Spica pen.
My designer paper is Paper Studio.
My blue flowers were made using this wonderful tutorial from
Norma Lee. Her flowers are amazing. I encourage everyone to pop over to her blog and spend some time drooling.
I used Peacock Feathers distress ink. It looks really blue. If you look close at the middle flower, you will see some yellow that separated from the blue on the tips.
The flowers were made with scraps. I made almost all of my cards 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 and I cut off 3 inches from my foundation card stock that is 11 by 8 1/2, so I have lots of those 3 inch strips. There is also a blue gemstone in the center of each flower.
I used a very pale aqua lace for the outer trim of my plate. I used a row of black rose ribbon on the inner rim. It is on a inward curve and doesn't really show up with the camera, but IRL it is lovely.
I used my SB to make the swirls and added a ribbon rose to each side of the aqua flowers.
The blue butterfly has been in my stash for quite a long time. My grandson really liked it and he was allowed to put it where ever he wanted on the project.
Tyler also placed the wire butterfly.
The hanger is a ribbon that the white stitching was colored with a Copic, so that it would match.
The magnets are card stock punched several times and built up to add some strength and glued to a magnet. Tyler then added the gemstone embellishment.
Tyler really wanted this butterfly as one of the magnets.
I hope that you and Tyler's teacher like it!
